We are two sisters with master's degrees in Pharmacy and Cell Biology from the University of Copenhagen. As part of our family business, we are launching SUKO Nordic Australia, a new chapter of SUKO Nordic Denmark.

Our Story

Falling in Love with the Australian Lifestyle

While working on our master's theses, we both spent time in Sydney, where we fell in love with Australia's active, nature-driven lifestyle—from surfing and yoga to tennis, cycling and a food culture centred on clean eating and natural self-care. We recognised many parallels with Scandinavian values but were especially inspired by how Australians embrace health and beauty from the inside out.

As daughters of the founders of SUKO Nordic in Denmark, we continue our family's mission of bringing science-based, plant-powered health products to people and animals. With SUKO Nordic Australia, we are carrying this mission forward by combining Danish quality with Australia's vibrant, health-focused lifestyle and offering supplements that support recovery and lasting wellbeing.

SUKO Nordic was founded by molecular biologists and Max Planck PhD graduates Monica Takamiya Wik and Peter Kristoffersen, with a vision to create high-quality, organic health products made naturally and sustainably.

As a family-owned company, SUKO Nordic has grown from Denmark into international markets. Its rosehip products became top sellers in Germany and were awarded Product of the Year just two years after their launch. Today, the next generation continues the journey, bringing Nordic expertise and natural ingredients into the Australian lifestyle.

Monica & Peter — The Founders

SUKO Nordic was founded by molecular biologists and Max Planck PhD graduates Monica Takamiya Wik and Peter Kristoffersen, with a vision to create high-quality, organic health products made naturally and sustainably. Isabel Takamiya Kristoffersen

MSc in Pharmacy

I hold a master's degree in Pharmacy and completed my thesis at the University of Sydney, specialising in epilepsy. I have always been passionate about both mental and physical health, which I believe are deeply connected. My pharmaceutical background has given me a strong understanding of how the body functions and how natural supplements can support long-term wellbeing.

At SUKO Nordic Australia, I combine my pharmaceutical expertise with natural approaches to health, with a commitment to helping people and animals live healthier lives.

I live these values every day through running, strength training and tennis, while following a balanced diet and choosing simple, natural solutions whenever possible. I am driven to make a meaningful difference through safe, plant-based supplements that support long-term health and longevity.

Amanda Takamiya Kristoffersen

MSc in Cell Biology and Physiology

With a master's degree in Cell Biology and Physiology, I have focused my academic and personal journey on understanding how physical activity and nutrition can improve health at the cellular level by regulating energy metabolism, strengthening antioxidant defences and supporting immune function.

My research background includes studying how ageing and lifestyle-related diseases can impair metabolism across different tissues, primarily skeletal muscle, and how exercise may help counteract these effects using both mouse models and human studies.

I live an active lifestyle centred around strength training, cycling and tennis, supported by a recovery-focused diet rich in whole foods and plant-based nutrients that promote recovery and cellular health. Through SUKO Nordic Australia, I aim to bring science-backed, natural supplements to a market that values preventive health, longevity and everyday wellbeing.

Where It All Began

It All Started with Our Grandfather, Kazuki Takamiya

It began with a chance connection, not a business plan. Our maternal grandfather, Kazuki, knew the owner of an organic rosehip plantation in Southern Chile. When our parents visited our mum's childhood home there, that connection sparked an idea.

At the same time, our father's brother knew a Danish company already selling rosehip powder back home in Denmark. The pieces came together, and our parents, Peter Kristoffersen and Monica Takamiya Wik, partnered with the Chilean plantation and founded their first rosehip company in 2008, followed by SUKO Nordic ApS in 2016.

Guided by science from the very start, they developed a unique Rosa canina AP-4® cultivar, grown organically in the volcanic soils of Southern Chile, where the region's cool climate and mineral-rich earth push the rosehips to develop exceptionally high levels of antioxidants.

It's a story that started with one grandfather's connection, decades ago, and that today, two generations later, still carries his name forward.
